Surrey Leaded Lights

Icon Accredited Conservation Studio specialising in the conservation, restoration and crafting of traditional leaded lights — from medieval painted glass to Arts and Crafts and Victorian windows across the South East.

Surrey Leaded Lights is an Icon Accredited Conservation Studio based in Horsham, West Sussex, specialising in the conservation and restoration of historic leaded lights and stained glass. Led by Clifford Durant ACR, the studio holds full accreditation from the Institute of Conservation, reflecting a commitment to the highest professional standards in this specialist field.

The studio's work spans the full range of historic glazing encountered in the South East's rich built heritage: medieval and Tudor leaded lights, Arts and Crafts windows, Victorian coloured and painted glass, and functional historic windows in oak and wrought iron frames. Surrey Leaded Lights are skilled not only in glass conservation — stabilisation, in-situ repair, and protective glazing — but also in the sourcing and matching of antique and period glass to achieve seamless repairs that respect the original character of each window.

A particular speciality is working from historic archive records to reinstate windows that have been lost or removed, recreating authentic leaded light patterns to return buildings to their historic appearance. Projects range from Grade I and Grade II* listed manor houses to Sussex village churches and residential properties, always with a focus on minimal intervention, material integrity, and craft excellence.
