Heritage Conservation Restoration Ltd

North West-based specialists in stonemasonry, leadwork and roofing for historic and ecclesiastical buildings, with major restoration projects completed at Manchester Cathedral and Blackburn Cathedral.

Heritage Conservation Restoration Ltd specialises in restoring and conserving Britain's historic and listed buildings, delivering stonemasonry, leadwork, hard metal work, slating and lime plastering as a single in-house contractor. Based at Bottoms Wharf in Mossley, near Ashton-under-Lyne, the company brings together CSCS Heritage Gold Card holders and an SPAB Fellow within its leadership team, alongside Lead Contractors Association accredited directors.

The firm's portfolio is dominated by ecclesiastical and civic heritage work across the North West and beyond, including a major restoration of Manchester Cathedral's tower — full masonry repointing, parapet rebuilding, clock face overhaul and re-gilding, and a new lead roof — completed in 2018 ahead of a royal visit. At Blackburn Cathedral, the team carried out lead gutter and flat roof renewal to the transepts, parapet and clerestory repointing, and a new lead-covered tower roof deck, funded in part by the World War 1 Memorial Fund. Further projects span Halifax Minster, Southwell Minster, Lancaster Castle and numerous Grade I and Grade II listed parish churches.

All trades — stonemasonry, leadwork, slating, carpentry and joinery, and Thermatech façade cleaning — are delivered in-house by qualified, CSCS-registered craftsmen, giving clients a single point of contact across complex, multi-trade restoration programmes. The company holds £10 million employer's liability and £5 million public liability cover and is CHAS and Construction Line registered.
